The 2010/11 season is officially over, which means the rumours can begin. Some will be, and have already been, outrageous, some will last all summer long and be resolved with seconds to go when deadline day rolls around, and some will just come out of nowhere.
Prior to the continuing debacle that is FIFA, this article was originally going to solely concentrate on me having been at Wembley on Monday afternoon/evening. Instead I'll reflect upon what was an entertaining, and at times pulsating Championship play-off final, before looking at the elephant in the room that is Sepp Blatter.
The biggest game on the European calendar comes to Wembley this weekend as Manchester United and Barcelona will battle out for the Champion's League, a repeat of the 2009 final at Roma's Stadio Olimpico.
The La Liga season ended with something of a tearjerker on Saturday, as Deportivo La Coruna, Champions of Spain just over a decade ago, fell into the second tier – perhaps never to return.
This season's Eredivisie has come to a close (aside from the Europa League and relegation play-offs) and it's the giants of Dutch football Ajax who claimed the crown in dramatic fashion by beating defending champions and title rivals FC Twente on the final day. And a goalless draw for PSV, who led for so much of the campaign, left them in third meaning they miss out on Champion's League football next season.
